This version of the State EMS Forms was posted on this site on 1/11/2010, and revised by the state on 1/12/2005.

In May 2008 the Data Subcommittee of the EMS Advisory Council finished compiling a data dictionary for use with the EMScan data collection program.

August 13, 2008

The Section of EMS and Trauma Systems in cooperation with the Office of Rural Health at the Arkansas Department of Health is pleased to announce a new Web Based version of the EMScan data collection system. This system is a hybrid that gives users the best of web-based and desktop-based systems. Users will still be able to enter data on their computer and their service’s data will remain on their computer for reference and reporting at all times. The advantage of this version will be that the data can be sent automatically and securely by utilizing a web connection. This version of the system will automatically upload data to the state without someone having to export the data to a file for later transfer by e-mail.

This manual includes coding that is used in the EMScan Data Collection program. The hospital tables in this coding manual have been updated to reflect changes in ownership, hospital closings, and hospital name changes that have taken place over the last few years. The hospital tables have been sent to EMS Data Systems for inclusion as drop down menus in the new Web-Enabled version of the software. The Section of EMS and Trauma Systems had to delay installation of this product during Hurricane Gustav response, but the installation process should begin again shortly. The Section hopes to have the software completely installed for all participating services by December 31, 2008.

Per Paul Halverson, DrPH, FACHE, Director and State Health Officer:
"Arkansas, however, is the only state in the nation without a single designated level I or II trauma center and is one of only a few states without a functioning trauma system."  (December 23, 2008)
