This version of the State EMS Forms was posted on this site on 7/9/2010, and revised by the state on 4/12/2005.

New Mexico began submitting data to NEMSIS as of October 2008. Currently the percentage of services reporting are 75%.

In May 2007, the NM Department of Health purchased a software licenses for web based prehospital data collection, and launched the New Mexico Emergency Medical Services Tracking and Reporting System (NMEMSTARS). The package includes a statewide software license, support and hosting of the data repository, and training for system administrators and users. The provider is a Minnesota based company, ImageTrend.

New Mexico will be collecting data in two parts. First is the ongoing collection and updating of EMS Agency contact information, which is stored and available for review or updates at www.nmemstars.org. Second is the ongoing submission of run reports, which can be done through the web based, ImageTrend, run report data entry system; or, if the agencies EMS run data is either Silver or Gold level NEMSIS compliant, it can be downloaded into NMEMSTARS. New Mexico is considering requiring the submission of approximately 39 NEMSIS defined, national level elements. However, they would like to collect an additional 50 “optional” elements so they can generate meaningful reports and contribute to the national data system.

All EMS and Fire Agencies that provide EMS services should be submitting patient care reports to the electronic New Mexico Emergency Medical Services Tracking and Reporting System (NMEMSTARS).  Distribution of the EMS Fund Act monies in 2010 will be partially based on the number of runs entered into NMEMSTARS from October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2009.  Services that do not enter their runs into the system may not receive their full allotment of funding.  Over 75% of the 340 services in NM are currently submitting data, but the remaining 25% need to start data entry as soon as possible.
